How many performers are available?

This is entirely up to you and your needs. We can accommodate almost anything! Our usual ensemble performances feature a quartet, sextet, octet, or a small chamber choir of 12 to 15 singers.

 

What sort of repertoire can you sing?

Our repertoire is varied. Again, we can accommodate most anything, from Christmas carols to secular part songs to English madrigals. We are comfortable singing in situations where religious reference is inappropriate, as well as in situations where it is expected. This pertains particularly to the holiday season. All sorts of festive presentations can be created to suit your needs. In addition, our small groups are experienced at taking into consideration the environment in which they will be singing.

The most important thing to remember with respect to repertoire is that you can have as much or as little control over it as you like, bearing in mind the need for rehearsal time and the possible limitations of our own extensive music library. We’ll do our best to meet your needs.

What is the cost?

This depends on a number of factors, such as how many singers are required and the duration of the performance. In general, rates are negotiable and specific to a particular engagement. As a reference, the rate for a 5-song repertoire is around $500.

 

How can I be sure I will receive a quality performance?

The Hart House Chorus is committed to the highest level of choral excellence. This is a dedicated group that takes every performance seriously. A sample recording of the choir is available for your listening pleasure. Note that the demo consists of material performed by the entire choir, not by small ensembles; however, it is a good indication of the level of performance you can expect for your engagement.
