Chorus Auditions 2025-2026

Auditions for the Hart House Chorus will take place on September 5th and September 7th, 2025.

For the audition, please prepare the following piece in your voice part:

You should also expect to do a small sight singing exercise and give a brief choral interview during the audition.

Please take note of the following important dates for our upcoming season and verify your availability for these events:

Farm Day: November 8, 2025 (all day)
Dress Rehearsal: November 28, 2025 (6PM-9PM)
Fall Concert: November 30, 2025 (3PM)

General Information
Auditions are held twice a year, at the beginning of fall and spring term in September and January, respectively. Returning members of the chorus are not required to reaudition.

Eligibility Requirement
The chorus is open to all those with Hart House clubs membership. All current U of T students are automatically Hart House club members upon payment of student incidental fees. Further Hart House membership details can be found at harthouse.ca/about-us/membership

Acceptance Decisions
Acceptance decisions will be emailed to auditionees by 12 noon on the first rehearsal date. Adjudicators will include our conductor, executive secretary, vice executive secretary, and assistant conductors. If you are not accepted this semester, please consider auditioning in January or September of next year.
All accepted members must pay a membership fee and participate in the choir’s mandatory rehearsals and concerts for the duration of the school year.
Rehearsal Schedule
The Chorus rehearses most Mondays from 5:30- 7:30 pm. Attendance is extremely important for the mutual enjoyment and musical coherence of our choir, and our attendance policy reflects this.
